About DarkAero:
We are a team of three brothers - Keegan, River, and Ryley Karl. We graduated from the University of Wisconsin - Madison with degrees in Mechanical (Keegan), Computer/Electrical (River), and Aerospace (Ryley) Engineering. Madison, WI remains our home and it is where we started DarkAero.
Our inspiration for the company and the DarkAero 1 grew out of years of visits to EAA AirVenture. Over those years we were always looking for new kit aircraft attempting to push the limits of speed, range, and efficiency by leveraging the latest tools, materials, and technology. However, we never saw anything that caught our eye.
After a few years of quietly researching, testing, and experimenting we decided to leave our engineering jobs in July 2017 to pursue DarkAero full time with the mission of creating the best kit aircraft.
DarkAero is 100% owned and funded by us three. This was a conscious decision to maintain control of the company vision and to help fuel risk taking, creativity, and attempting new things that hadn't been seen or tried before with kit aircraft.
We're excited about the progress we've made, and we're looking forward to sharing our journey as we develop the DarkAero 1.
