Sunset Sandstorm! A level I’ve always wanted to do considering my skillset and general liking of these first half heavy cube levels. Originally I was going to do it later, but then I realized how low it was getting on the list so I decided to get it done quickly before it fell off. Playing it, I could tell how much I’ve been improving at GD. Hopefully this improvement continues :)

As for the level itself, I love it. The repetition of the predrop is super cool, and it’s broken up frequently enough to remain engaging. My only small issue came with the part between the first cube and the drop, specifically the ufo. It’s just a little awkward, with some of the setup gameplay feeling a bit too far out of the player’s control. Luckily this is a very minor issue for me. The whole rest of the level felt fair and fun. The way you feel upon reaching the drop is insane. After going through the brutal predrop and chokeable midsection, you reach the most intense part of the level. The way the predrop and midsection slowly introduce more orange to the screen gives you a solid sense of progression, leading to the drop being able to hit as hard as it does. The drop is flashy and colorful, but still retains the theme. Never before seeing this level could I have imagined that rainbow could be incorporated so well into a desert styled level, but here we are. The drop gameplay and deco work super well with music, so you feel super cool playing it, especially after passing all of the predrop. I would absolutely recommend this to anyone who doesn’t mind a challenging predrop.
