Shiny Skitty via swarm in Route 116! Using the swarm and a level 9-15 Repel Trick, you can make Skitty appear 100% of the time, making for a very nice unique hunt. 3rd gen swarms are very underrated and not many people really know much about them, so I'll explain a bit of what I know and how this hunt works, as I'm not sure if everything was explained all that well in the video.
Step 1: Get a swarm. Swarms in gen 3 have around a 0.5% chance of spawning every time you win a battle. Once a swarm is generated, it'll be annouced on TV the next day. The easiest way to go about this is by defeating a bunch of weak wild Pokémon.
Step 2: Check your swarm. There are only 2 Pokemon that can appear from a swarm in Ruby and Sapphire: Skitty and Surskit. Skitty only appears on Route 116, while Surskit swarms will appear on 1 of 4 different routes. To check which swarm you have, watch the TV until you get to a show called "Pokémon News." This program will announce what Pokémon is swarming, and what route it's on. It is important that you SAVE BEFORE watching this program, because the swarm becomes active once you watch this program. If you don't get the swarm you want, you'll have to wait until midnight the day after the swarm is activated for it to disappear. You'll also need a working battery and a game without the berry glitch, otherwise the swarm won't disappear (or appear in the first place). You'll have to repeat this process until you get the swarm you want, which can take quite some time.
Step 3: Start the hunt. Once you get the swarm you want, save in front of the TV closest to the route you'll be hunting in. Then activate the swarm, go to the route, and begin hunting. DO NOT SAVE after activating the swarm if you want to keep your swarm. If you have a dry battery or the berry glitch while the swarm is active, then it will not disappear, so saving afterward is fine. You can also give a swarm to another game by mixing records, but it only works if that game doesn't already have a swarm generated. All that's left to do now is get the shiny!
