In 717 AD, the monk Taichō opened Mount Hakusan and uncovered thermal hot springs across Echizen. Today, that guardianship returns as Kuzuryū Taichō. Surrounding him on the campaign seal are the 19 Yumori (湯守 - "Keepers of the Spring")—representing the 19 village landholders and community stewards of Amasugoucho who hold the underlying parcels of this 33,700 m² site. They are not passive bystanders waiting for leases to expire; they are the true guardians of regional regeneration.
