Today is Día de Los Muertos, also known as Día de Los Fieles de Funtos🌼💀🌼

Ponche recipe:
16C water
6 guavas (halved)
3 red apples (cut into chunks)
2 pears (cut into chunks)
1 orange (sliced)
8oz piloncillo (or 1C brown sugar)
6 whole cloves
4 Mexican cinnamon sticks
2T dried Hibiscus
1 dried tamarind pod (peeled)
Place all ingredients into a stockpot, bring to boil, reduced heat to low, and simmer for at least 30mins. Serve in mugs with optional fruit pieces and/or splash of rum/brandy.
Champurrada recipe:
8C water
5oz. pilocillo (or 1/2C brown sugar)
1 Mexican cinnamon stick
2 Mexican Chocolate tablets (Abuelita brand)
3/4C masa harina (corn flour)
Bring 6C water to boil with cinnamon and piloncillo, then simmer for about 10mins. Add Mexican Chocolate tablets and let dissolve (about 5mins.). In a bowl, mix masa harina and 2C water (mix with egg beaters to avoid clumps). Pour mixture into pot and bring to boil. Then lower to simmer for 6-8mins. Turn off and let cool for 5mins. Mixture should be thick. The corn flour makes this drink extremely hot, so please be careful.
