Comet C/2023 A3 (Tsuchinshan-ATLAS), also known as Comet A3, is a long-period comet discovered in January 2023. It was first spotted by two independent surveys, the Tsuchinshan (Purple Mountain Observatory) in China and the ATLAS (Asteroid Terrestrial-impact Last Alert System) in Hawaii, which is why it carries both names.
