On June 23, 2024, a Bonneville Interagency Hotshot Crew (IHC) crewmember, while assigned to the Little Twist Fire, was struck by a falling snag. The crew was actively working on a spot fire in conjunction with a type one helicopter. The forest conditions, combined with the intense rotor wash, caused what appeared to be a sound standing snag to fall over and strike the Bonneville IHC crewmember across the back of the head and shoulder, pinning them to the ground, resulting in serious injuries. The Bonneville IHC provided immediate medical care until additional medical providers could arrive to extract the crewmember by foot and agency helicopter directly to the hospital.
