Literature and political writings have played a significant role in many social and political revolutions globally. Their influence on the Indian freedom struggle was no different. India’s pre-independence society was deeply influenced by the political writings and literature of the time and local Indian newspapers and pamphlets were often used by freedom fighters and political leaders to spread awareness and also as a propaganda tool against the British. Similarly, many great novelists have been instrumental in generating patriotism and social and political understanding among the masses.
