LISA Black hole spectroscopy with quasinormal mode overtones
Cecilia Chirenti and Iara Ota
We investigate the possibility of performing tests with LISA of the no-hair theorem using black hole spectroscopy. In particular, we study the prospects for detection of a second mode in the ringdown of a binary black hole coalescence. For binaries of increasing mass ratios from 1:1 to 1:10, we compare the detectability and resolvability of a higher harmonic mode and of the first overtone of the fundamental quadrupolar mode.
