Join final-year student Rachael McGrath and president of the LIS Sauna Society, for a closer look at one of the UK’s fastest-growing wellbeing movements: the community sauna.

As part of her final Capstone project, Rachael is investigating the emotional, spiritual, and social impact of sauna culture beyond just sweat and steam. What happens when we treat heat as healthcare? Can saunas be more than a luxury — maybe even a prescription?

In this webinar, Rachael shares emerging insights from her original mixed-methods research, conducted in partnership with Hackney Community Sauna Baths. She reflects on what it means to take on an interdisciplinary research project at LIS — working across public health, neuroscience, and lived experience to better understand a timely and under explored topic.
