When we think of earthquakes, we usually think of things breaking like roads and buildings, but in some circumstances the shaking can cause the earth below our feet to become wobbly and liquefy.

Join Joe from the Geoscience Australia Education Centre as he examines the process of liquefaction and its impact on buildings and other structures. Take a look at some of the ways engineers lessen the impact of earthquakes on buildings and even learn how you can make your own liquefaction demonstration and extend it into an inquiry activity.
