In this tutorial I cover how to deal with permissions for directories.
Changing permissions for a directory can be done in the same way as changing file permissions, using chmod but there are a couple of thing you need to be aware of.

This tutorial illustrates how changing permissions for a directory can affect the functionality of the directory being changed.
