Linux Mint devs have just revealed a brand new Wayland-native Cinnamon screensaver that’s already ready for Linux Mint 23! In the February 2026 monthly newsletter, Clément Lefebvre confirmed that the old screensaver (which only worked on X11) is being replaced by a built-in, native solution that works perfectly on Wayland.
Plus two awesome new features:

New “Users” page in the Administration Tool (mintsysadm)
New “Sensors” page in the System Reports tool

Linux Mint 23 will be based on Ubuntu 26.04 LTS (Resolute Raccoon) and is expected in July–August 2026.
This is classic Linux Mint — quietly fixing what other distros ignore and making Cinnamon even better.
