Back in 1975, when Linda Ronstadt's song "When Will I Be Loved" was topping the charts, most every top 40 station in America played it just the way it was released as a single. But two radio stations in America -- KRIZ-AM in Phoenix and KNUS-FM in Dallas -- played it as a medley with the next song on Linda's album Heart Like A Wheel. Dallas listeners who were tuned to KNUS/99 never knew that "Willing" wasn't part of the song, because whenever we played "When Will I Be Loved" on the air, we always let it track right into "Willing," like you hear it here, just like you would have heard it on the album. Frankly, nowadays whenever I hear "When Will I Be Loved" playing on the radio, it sounds to me like the station playing it is chopping off the second part of the song. And that was the whole idea behind our playing it this way. Besides, the lyrics were tailor-made for Dallas, Alice.
