Linda Kasabian took to the stand at the Los Angeles Superior Court on Tuesday, July 28, 1970, and her testimony would reveal the shocking depravity and twisted power dynamics of Charles Manson and his "family." Kasabian described her first meeting with Manson after joining the group on July 4, 1969, where Manson made love to her and discussed her father issues. She also recalled Manson's nonsensical sayings and his belief that killing was acceptable if you were willing to be killed yourself.
Kasabian's testimony then took a dark turn as she described a party at the ranch, where a young girl was brought in and made to lie down in the middle of the floor. Manson proceeded to have sex with her, despite her resistance and biting him on the shoulder. Manson then instructed another member, Bobby Beausoleil, to have sex with the girl, and then instructed everyone to kiss her and have sex with her. According to Kasabian, no one touched the girl until Manson told them to do so. Manson then instructed everyone to shed their clothes and engage in an orgy together.
Kasabian also claimed that Manson ordered the female members of his "family" to have sex with male visitors to the ranch in an attempt to recruit them. The shocking nature of Kasabian's testimony brought three motions for a new trial, all of which were ultimately rejected.
