Episode 1 of BACKROOMS WEEK kicks off here.
To celebrate the upcoming release of the Backrooms movie in theaters, I’m spending the entire week playing a mix of Backrooms and liminal space horror games leading up to launch. This series is basically a countdown and a celebration of everything that made this genre so popular in the first place.
Each episode will feature a different game exploring eerie, empty, and surreal spaces that fit the Backrooms/liminal horror vibe.
⸻
🎮 Episode 1: Liminal Shroud
We’re starting the week with Liminal Shroud, a first-person liminal horror experience that focuses heavily on atmosphere, surreal environments, and psychological unease.
Unlike traditional Backrooms games with repetitive yellow office levels and entity chase mechanics, Liminal Shroud takes a more artistic approach:
• Handcrafted surreal environments
• Dreamlike, shifting spaces
• Minimal gameplay focused on exploration
• Psychological and environmental horror instead of action
It’s less about survival… and more about getting lost in places that feel completely wrong.
⸻
This is a Backrooms Week special series, leading up to the release of the Backrooms movie, so expect more liminal horror, more strange spaces, and more unsettling environments all week long.
