The Sustainable Development Goals, Global pandemic, Climate change, Refugee crisis, Universal literacy, these global challenges connect us. At the same time they may daunt us. Responding to global issues from our local vantage point may seem an insurmountable challenge. How do we as leaders, GLAM leaders, respond to global challenges at a local level? How are libraries 'thinking globally, acting locally'? These lightning talks will share examples of local actions that respond to large-scale challenges with a help to build healthy resilient communities, increase equity of access, create positive community engagement, and connect practical steps to move towards larger-scale change. In this session we will hear from different library sectors about advocacy for open access, community engagement and leading yourself to lead, building healthy communities, building a healthier planet, and building literacies. These lightning talks will share stories, connect ideas, and inspire local action in the face of large-scale global challenges.
