This 30 min video I've packed with a bunch of info that describes how light works, in a way that impacts us as either painters or lighting people. This is not really a "how to" sort of video but rather talking about the things we need to understand about light to be better at reproducing the things we see. The concepts are lightly touched on and so additional research should always be done, and of course it's easy to do your own studies of light by looking around you.. everything we see is light so no matter where you are, there's reference! :D
One slight correction to make about something I said, is that the white is created in the forrest photo because of yellow and blue.. which is only in part true.. but it should also be noted that a red light when looked at directly will appear white because the value is so high that it max's out our eyes making them see white instead..
Feel free to pause at any point in the video to absorb and contemplate. I've kept the video relatively fast to prevent boring people who already understand many of the points. So if you're new to it.. take the time to absorb it. Maybe do some research on the subtopic :) Colour temperature for example, I mention it, but don't go in depth.. look it up! Or how about how on an overcast day light comes in from every angle so that's why we don't see shadows and those we do are VERY soft.. the concept is in the video.. but the example is not.. research my friends!
