Lightening storm at the Lotus Tower in Colombo Sri Lanka.

Colombo Lotus Tower has been called a symbolic landmark of Sri Lanka. As of 2019, the tower is the tallest self-supported structure in South Asia. The 2nd tallest structure in South Asia after the guy-wire-supported INS Kattabomman in India. it is the 11th tallest tower in Asia.  It was first proposed to be built in the suburb of Peliyagoda but later the Government of Sri Lanka decided to change the location to Slave Island. The lotus-shaped tower is used for communication, observation and other leisure facilities. Construction is estimated to have cost US$113 million dollars.

The design of this building is inspired by the Lotus flower. The lotus symbolizes purity within Sri Lankan culture and is also said to symbolize the country's flourishing development. The tower base is inspired by the lotus throne and will also be formed by 2 inverted trapezoidal. The tower's color can be changed by to RGB lights.
