And sometimes, whether it’s the length of a vehicle’s wheelbase or just the preferred way to access the undercarriage, we get a lot of questions about turning the frames sideways. We’ve answered this a few times before, but we realize there’s still some confusion out there. What’s safe? What isn’t? Once and for all, here’s how to safely turn your frames sideways.

Of course, even if you follow all the advice in this video, your portable car lift is best used along the wheelbase, as intended in 99.9% of all cases. In the event you want to turn the frames sideways, be sure to keep a tool on-hand to help disengage the locks. Never crawl under a vehicle that isn’t resting on mechanical locks.
