London's newest viewing platform, Lift 109 at Battersea Power Station, Now open for you to enjoy and experience. So join Yhana and I as we board the glass elevator and ascend one of Battersea Power stations iconic chimneys and take a 360 view of London’s skyline.
In this video we are going to show everything you will expect from this incredible new attraction.
Lift 109 has taken up residence in the most north-westerly of Battersea Power Station's four iconic chimneys, whizzing you up through the centre of the shaft and out into the sky above.
As part of this attraction and even before you step onboard Lift 109, there’s a small exhibition detailing the history of Battersea Power Station, everything from construction, the second world war, and its most recent relaunch as a high end shopping centre.
At the far end of the exhibition you will discover that a screen counts down to the next lift ride, these doors will unexpectedly swing open allowing you to enter a darkened room.
This room is designed as an immersive light show experience showcasing the building's industrial history.
Once you have completed this interesting light show, two regular metal lifts open their doors and swallow visitors. Don't be disappointed — these aren't the lift, just a method to convey you up a few more floors.
Once you step through these lifts, it's time to look up, through the glass ceiling and get a glimpse of the chimney you will soon be ascending.
From this point of your journey there is a short spiral staircase of 39 steps to the main lift. There is a step free alternative but you will need to book this in advance.
Lift 109 itself is a circular glass lift, and will offer 360° views, and there's even a wooden bench in the centre for anyone who wishes to remain seated.
The ascent begins, taking you up close and personal from the inside of that world-famous chimney. Look up through the lift's glass ceiling to see the seriously awe-inspiring sight of the shaft illuminated in a futuristic light show.
Though expected, the emergence from the chimney into the sky above feels sudden, Do not doubt as to whether the lift will actually stop or not, it will, you are not about to have your very own Roald Dahl’s Great Glass Elevator moment. Although, I wouldn’t say no to a ride like that.
