Lifeless Past is a goth post-punk band from the Netherlands and this is their performance at VERA in Groningen last Friday, where I mixed live visual projections using software and hardware VJ tools. This project, founded in 2012 by singer/songwriter Satori, is one of my favorites to do visuals for and the music still sounds so fresh and exciting to me.

The tools I specifically used were Resolume Arena @ResolumeVJSoftware , the HDK-01 by @bpmcglitch , the Roland V-4EX, and the Premium Cable also by @bpmcglitch. These were configured in a way you'd probably not expect. I used the Roland V-4EX only for wipe shapes, in other words there were no inputs active and Bus B was simply inverted to white. The HDMI output of this was sent to the HDK to provide additional color/digital glitches and this was then routed as a input into my laptop and Resolume Composition, which was mixed as a layer underneath the asset layer, which was processed separately with the Premium Cable and given my signature halftone look. It's the first time I've mixed both the analog and digital textures like this :)

Shout out to the great lighting from the in-house operator, who I directed to make it feel as if "there is a UFO alien abduction about to happen onstage" and to stick to the cool color spectrum, along with white, and sometimes red.
