Richard is a master of bringing human character to life, and his use of colour to create expression and depth in the human face is incredibly inspiring!
In this painting Richard lays down neutral undertones and creates the impression of a light source behind the ears. As always Richard's mastery in capturing this fellow's happy-go-lucky expression is second to no one. The use of unexpected blues against warms give this picture dimension and life - and the glasses absolutely make it!
