Precious ravine woodlands across the Peak District are being brought back to life through the largest restoration project of its kind. This 20-minute documentary showcases the groundbreaking LIFE in the Ravines project, where thousands of native trees are being planted to replace those lost to devastating ash dieback disease.

The five-year initiative, using EU LIFE Programme funding, is restoring up to 25% of the region's most severely damaged woodlands within the Peak District Dales Special Area of Conservation (SAC), creating resilient habitats that will protect this rare ecosystem for future generations.

Through stunning aerial cinematography and intimate landscape footage, witness the restoration activities firsthand as teams replant a diverse mix of species, which historically thrived in these unique limestone ravines.

Hear from project partners as they share insights into this collaborative conservation effort and listen to the story of how precious these woodlands are through the eyes of a local artist and project woodland specialists.

Natural England leads this vital partnership, working alongside Derbyshire Wildlife Trust, Staffordshire Wildlife Trust, Chatsworth Estate, and the National Trust to protect these precious habitats.

This film demonstrates the power of partnership in conservation, showing how dedicated teams are working together to ensure these special woodlands survive and flourish for generations to come.
