Arnold Schönberg (1874-1951) was a revolutionary Austrian composer whose life and work left an indelible mark on the landscape of 20th-century music. Born in Vienna, Schönberg initially followed a conventional path, studying music at the Vienna Conservatory and immersing himself in the late-Romantic tradition. The rise of the Nazi regime in Germany forced him to flee Europe, eventually settling in the United States, where he continued to compose and teach.
In his later years, Schönberg's style evolved once more, as he reintroduced tonal elements into his music while maintaining his commitment to innovation. This period saw the creation of his important works like the "Suite for Strings" and "A Survivor from Warsaw."
