More and more people switch to flat ultrawide displays because they offer significantly more space for tasks such as video editing.

But even accounting, or working with multiple documents and windows open will be much better on a 21:9 super-wide monitor.

The 5K display LG 34WK95U-W offers plenty of space and a variety of resolution options.

Especially beneficial is the USB Type-C / Thunderbolt 3 connector because it can transfer the monitor signal and at the same time transfer data and charge your Mac Book Pro.

Overall I think this monitor is interesting because it supports the wider DCI-P3 color space.

Another advantage is that LG no only integrated the power supply into the display but also included a light sensor. Both of which was not the case with the previous monitor I tested.

Video editing becomes easier because the LG offers so much space, and gaming is more immersive as well, but usually I would recommend curved over flat here.

Switching back to a normal 16:9 display makes you notice how much bigger and better this LG display is.

The only thing that may be unusual to some people is browsing the web or watching a movie because a 21:9 ultrawide display always leaves some extra space at the sides.

Other than that a great display, most people should be very happy with it, unless you need a super professional self-calibrating monitor for reference purposes.

In that case, I would still prefer the EIZO Color Edge line, however for most people that would probably be overkill, and that’s why the LG ultra wides are rising in popularity with many YouTubers, gamers and content creators.
