On Thursday, April 9, Lewis Hamilton took to the track in the Ferrari SF-26 Formula One car at the Fiorano Circuit. Pirelli rescheduled the wet-tire tests originally set for Bahrain, allowing the Maranello-based team to use its home track. Thanks to an artificial irrigation system, the circuit can be kept completely wet, making it one of the few facilities in the world equipped with one. These tests are part of the development program for the Full Wet and Intermediate tyres for the new technical regulations. The new tyres have been redesigned to adapt to lighter (the minimum weight drops from 798 to 768 kg) and more compact cars. Although the wheel size remains 18 inches, the overall dimensions have been changed to improve agility and reduce drag. Due to their smaller footprint, the full wet tyres' displacement capacity drops to 76 litres per second at 300 km/h (compared to 85 litres per second previously). These tests use current season cars, built according to the new technical regulations and representative of real-world track loads. The 2026 tyres are narrower (25 mm narrower at the front and 30 mm at the rear) and have a smaller overall diameter; testing them on cars designed for these dimensions eliminates the approximations of the mule cars used previously. Since the 2026 regulations have introduced radical changes (cars 30 kg lighter and shorter), in-season testing allows Pirelli to adapt the compounds to the teams' actual development pace. Nella giornata di Giovedì 9 Aprile, Lewis Hamilton è sceso in pista con la Ferrari SF-26 di Formula Uno presso la Pista di Fiorano. Pirelli ha riprogrammato i test con le gomme intermedie e da bagnato, inizialmente previsti a Bahrain, e la Scuderia di Maranello ha quindi potuto sfruttare la sua pista di casa. Ricordiamo che, grazie al sistema di irrigazione artificiale, è possibile bagnare completamente il circuito ed è uno dei pochi impianti al mondo dotati di tale sistema. Questi test fanno parte del programma di sviluppo relativo agli pneumatici Full WET ed Intermedie per il nuovo regolamento tecnico. Le nuove gomme sono state riprogettate per adattarsi a monoposto più leggere (il peso minimo scende da 798 a 768 kg) e compatte. Nonostante il cerchio rimanga da 18 pollici, le dimensioni complessive variano per migliorare l'agilità e ridurre la resistenza all'avanzamento. A causa della minore impronta a terra, la capacità di evacuazione degli pneumatici Full Wet scende a 76 litri al secondo a 300 km/h (rispetto agli 85 litri al secondo precedenti). Per questi test vengono utilizzate le monoposto attuali, della stagione in corso, costruite secondo il nuovo regolamento tecnico e rappresentative dei carichi reali in pista. Gli pneumatici 2026 sono più stretti (25 mm in meno all'anteriore e 30 mm al posteriore) e hanno un diametro totale ridotto; testarli sulle vetture nate per queste misure elimina le approssimazioni delle mule car utilizzate in precedenza. Poiché il regolamento 2026 ha introdotto cambiamenti radicali (auto più leggere di 30 kg e più corte), i test durante la stagione permettono a Pirelli di adattare le mescole all'effettivo ritmo di sviluppo delle squadre.
