Scott Westerfeld's Leviathan was one of my favorite books when I was 12 years old, and now that I've reread them to prepare for the recently released adaptation, I can confirm that I still love them. These books are an excellent example of how historical fiction can be used to teach real history, and they're proof that Steampunk is far more than an aesthetic.
