Tasting the earliest ripening summer apples in late July. Trailman, William's Pride, Centennial, carolina red june, july red and ~Twang~ the typical early summer apple is thin, low in sugar, not the best texture and does not keep long at all. We have a few early apples that do not fit that description now, so it should be pretty easy to breed more and more, better and better "first early" apples. This can be done both by crossing them with each other, but also with any other apples that have desirable traits. I'm using William's Pride a lot in breeding now and Centennial looks very promising as well.
