CityNerd | Let's Replace Planes with Bullet Trains! The 10 Busiest Short-Hop Air Routes In the United States @CityNerd | Uploaded September 2022 | Updated October 2024, 1 hour ago.
This week we're looking at the busiest air routes that SHOULD be high speed rail, if the United States could figure out how to build it. These are the most-trafficked origin and destination city (really, combined statistical area) pairs in the US under 500 miles.
It's a distance we REALLY shouldn't have planes flying between large markets. Every other advanced nation has basically figured this out already, and we're still building narrow gauge tunnels for personal vehicles. It all makes perfect sense.
Video explores California High Speed Rail, the Texas Central, the Acela / Amtrak Northeast Corridor, potential Brightline extensions to Las Vegas and Atlanta, and touched on possibilities in Toronto, Montreal, Mexico City, and Guadalajara as well.
