Mega May continues with Mega Man 4 (or Rockman 4: A New Ambition!!). Equipped with a handy New Mega Buster (allowing for charge shots), Mega Man sets out to defeat the new mysterious scientist Dr. Cossack, and his army of 8 Robot Masters and their minions.
This is by far my favorite of the NES games, thanks to a combination of level design and tropes, balanced weapon set, general polish, and a twist on the conventional plot. This is where Capcom finally nailed down the basic formula for the classic games - one they'd iterate on in future titles. The execution's not perfect, but it's a significant step up from 1 through 3.
Although, they adhered TOO close to this formula for 5 and 6. Especially on the narrative and progression fronts. It's a big reason why this "second trilogy" is unfairly passed over by many.
For this part, I dispatch the Cossack's eight Robot Masters.
