Kohan II: Kings of War is a real-time strategy games developed by TimeGate Studios. It was originally published by Global Star Software and first released on September 17, 2004 for Windows.
The game is the sequel to Kohan: Immortal Sovereigns and its expansion pack, Kohan: Ahriman's Gift. Kings of War continues the story of the first game. The evil Ceyah try to regain their power by raising new armies of demons and undead. Ultimately, a threat to the forces of both light and darkness arises, requiring both sides to make unorthodox choices.
Kohan II: Kings of War has 3D visuals, and largely retains the low-micro gameplay of its predecessors. The factions are now more distinct and have unique features e.g. the Undead can recover without supply lines, and Haroun can summon several structures at once.
New settlements can now only be built on certain spots on the map. Certain neutral structures grant access to new units. Towns can no longer be taken over, but instead must be rebuilt after having been destroyed. Town structures now appear as individual buildings, and can also be destroyed individually.
Kohan II: Kings of War received positive reviews, with critics noting its gameplay and switch from 2D to 3D. The Kohan series did not received further entries, though TimeGate released Axis & Allies, which shares some mechanics with the Kohan games, shortly afterwards.
