In the remake the train graveyard expands on the lore of the ghosts, their steal and that of common drakes are also different (cerulean drakes now stand in for the common vanilla ffvii drake and ethers can be stolen from them) Wererats and cripshays are unique to remake, with cripshays being a very common enemy.
the ghosts also have a more expanded role as enemies, with their phase in and out upon being struck mechanic now being complemented by an adapting barrier mechanic. you can find aeriths mythril staff in the first half and can steal a bladed staff from eligor at the end, just like the original.
Eligor is now an unmissable boss and hes fairly tough, being an evil spirit that abducts children, he is responsible for the haunting of the train graveyard (and also hes a robot) a new boss is at the midway point, a spirit formed from the fused souls of all the chilldren eligor abducted, and they are determined to stop cloud and gang from sharing in their fate.
