Doom 64 is a first-person shooter developed by Midway Studios Sand Diego supervision of id Software. It was first published on April 4, 1997 by Midway Games for the Nintendo 64.
The game is not a straight port of the original Doom, and instead feature entirely new visuals, music, and levels. The behaviour of some monsters has been altered as well, and most stages rely more heavily on switch puzzles.
Doom 64's reception was positive, with critics praising the challenge the games offers as well as the visuals and level design. Negative points included Doom 64 still being a port of Doom, which at this point had been ported to almost every system capable of supporting it.
The game received a remaster for PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One by Nightdive Studios in 2020 to coincide with the release of Doom Eternal. The remaster also includes new levels to bridge the original Doom series to the Doom games released from 2016 on.
