AstroFarsography | Let's Photograph The Iris Nebula @AstroFarsography | Uploaded May 2019 | Updated October 2024, 19 hours ago.
The Iris Nebula is a beautiful reflection nebula in the constellation Cepheus. Not too far from the Elephant's Trunk Nebula. The Iris Nebula shines with a wonderful blue glow and is a joy to target, as well as the challenge of controlling dust, nebulosity and the bright star in the middle. Using an Altair Astro Hypercam 183c I was able to photograph the Iris Nebula during a nice night in summer. It was a great session.
The Iris Nebula reminds me of a bright pearl in space, surrounded by the clamshell of its blue nebula. I had a nightmare of a time troubleshooting why my PHD guiding suddenly just wasn't having any of it. I could hardly get any work done. I even lost a super clear bank holiday weekend (like, that hurt a lot!) to it. But I seem to have it sorted now!
