$Is Gold The Best (Cheap) Medium Format Film? Over the last couple years weve seen film prices continue to go up & up, and medium format cant escape that either. From B&W to Color to New Film, the price continues to challenge many of our wallets on a daily basis. However, when it comes to medium format, there is one film that stays at the top of lists when it comes to both quality & cost. Coming in at only about $40, Kodak Gold remains one of the best deals in film in 2025. For me, Ive been spamming it through my Mamiya 7 & RB67, as personally, I think it holds up to the quality of the Kodak Portra Professional line of film, but comes in at a fraction of the cost.
