Bayonetta is a third-person Beat'em up for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Wii U, developed by Platinum Games in cooperation with publisher Sega. The game was originally released in Japan in October 2009, and in North America and Europe in January 2010 on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, with the Wii U version released on September 20, 2014, in Japan, followed by worldwide release on October 24, 2014. The Wii U version contains exclusive, Nintendo-themed costumes and is bundled with every retail copy of the Wii U-exclusive Bayonetta 2, or it can be purchased separately in the Nintendo eShop (with a discounted price if bought alongside Bayonetta 2).
Bayonetta centres on its title character, the witch Bayonetta, who uses firearms and magical attacks to fight against angelic enemies. The game's developers designed its characters with modern style and fashion in mind, and it is composed with a largely upbeat soundtrack.
Reviews praised Bayonetta for its easily learned yet deep combat, fast pace, boss battles, time slowdown or "Witch Time" mechanic, and character and stage designs. The game has sold 1.35 million units worldwide by March 31, 2010. An anime film adaptation of the game by Gonzo, Bayonetta: Bloody Fate, was released in Japan in November 2013.

Dark Souls is an action role-playing video game set in an open world environment. It was developed and published for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 by From Software in Japan and by Namco Bandai Games internationally. A spiritual successor to From Softwares Demons Souls, Dark Souls began development under the working title Project Dark. The game was released in 2011. On August 24, 2012, the Prepare to Die edition of Dark Souls was released for PC, featuring additional content previously unavailable to PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 users. Artorias of the Abyss.
Dark Souls takes place in the fictional kingdom of Lordran. Players assume the role of a cursed human character who has been chosen to make a pilgrimage out of the Undead Asylum to discover the fate of the undead. The plot of Dark Souls is primarily told through descriptions of in-game items and dialogue with non-playable characters (NPCs). Players must piece together what vague information they obtain in order to understand the story, rather than having it laid out for them by the game. Dark Souls garnered recognition due to its grueling difficulty and unforgiving challenge. The game world is filled with weapons, armor and consumable items that serve to assist the player throughout their journey.

Nier is an action-adventure video game developed by Cavia and published by Square Enix. It was released for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in Australia, Europe, Japan and North America in April 2010. In Japan, the game was released as NieR Gestalt for the Xbox 360, while an alternate version entitled NieR Replicant was released for PlayStation 3 with a younger main character. The game is a spin-off from the Drakengard series, and follows the fifth ending of the first game, the events of which have left the planet Earth in a state of decay. Set over one thousand years after this, the game puts the player in control of the titular protagonist Nier, as he attempts to find a cure for an illness, known as the Black Scrawl, to which his daughter Yonah has succumbed. Partnering with a talking book known as Grimoire Weiss, he journeys with two other characters, Kainé and Emil, as he attempts to find a remedy and understand the nature of the creatures known as Shades that stalk the world. The gameplay borrows elements from various video game genres, occasionally switching between them and the main RPG-based gameplay.
