WHY IS THE EMPRESS ALWAYS PREGNANT?! 🤰
Many have speculated why the Empress card in the tarot is always pregnant. Maybe it's because of ancient "Mother Earth" connotations... Maybe it's to represent love.
Mostly, IMO, the Empress is depicted this way to signify abundance and fertility. BUT, BUT, BUT... what about the UNIVERSAL CONCEPT that this MAJOR arcana card is supposed to be portraying? 🌌 The universe isn't giving birth in the human way.... So... MORE DOTS....
So, I am pulling out some Empress cards (and a few others) to have a little looksy and some guidebooks to see if I can get down to the NITTY-GRITTY of WHAT ON MOTHER EARTH does the Empress really mean! 🥥
Largely, I would love to hear how we can ALL inspire the deck creators that will come forward with options as to how we can ACTUALLY depict the Empress (and Emperor) from now on. Let's move away from stereotypes and towards something fit for our world NOW! 🌎
