Lyrics:
There were three maids come from the west, their fortune to espy
And these three maids took a solemn oath that John Barleycorn must die
They buried him in three furrows deep, piled clods upon his head
Then these three maids took a solemn oath that John Barleycorn was dead
They let him lie for about three weeks, till the drops from Heaven did fall
Then little Sir John lifted up his head and so did amaze them all
They let him stand till Midsummer's Day, when he looked both pale and wan
Then little Sir John grew a long, long beard and so became a man
They've hired the men with the scythes so sharp, to cut him off at the knee
And rolled him and tied him about the waist—they served him barbarously
They've hired the men with the crabtree sticks, for to thresh him skin from bone
And the miller has treated him worst of all, for he's ground him between two stones
And that was the death of John Barleycorn, but he lived to tell the tale
For they've bunged him into an oaken vat and called him homebrewed ale
And the king he could not keep his court, nor the huntsman wind his horn
Nor the sailor sail, nor the plowman plow, without John Barleycorn

Lyrics:
It started in a tavern on the edge of Macke Town
The talk had turned to stories of the night
He drank and laughed with all the rest and chilled them with his tales
Spoken in the shadowed eerie light
When all at once they noticed signs they had not seen before
No candles burned inside the tavern hall
The windows shuttered tightly and no light spread from the doors
The blacksmiths son glowed pale to light them all
Sword in hand and rein in hand he rides across the plain
Knowing as he gallops that he cant go home again
Born and raised in Macke Town, the blacksmiths only son
His neighbors hound and hunt him for a deed he has not done
Frightened by his wizards light, his old friends stay away
He finds himself abandoned and alone
His lifetime friendships shattered by a power undesired
His life destroyed by things he has not known
Then one day the Baron dies of no mere earthly cause
And all assign the blacksmiths son the blame
In the night they come to take him to his death upon the stake
He escapes into the dark that shrouds the plain
Sword in hand and rein in hand he rides across the plain
Knowing as he gallops that he cant go home again
Born and raised in Macke Town, the blacksmiths only son
His neighbors hound and hunt him for a deed he has not done
He rides the plain a year or more, searching for a sign
Of a sorcerer who murders village lords
And if he should find him he resolves to settle all
Bringing his name with power and a sword
So comes the day he finds a tower black against the sun
The power grips his body like a claw
It pulls him toward the tower where his shame may be avenged
And the castle is invaded by the pawn
He finds the sorcerer asleep secure within his spells
His rage fuels power to strike the wards away!
He slashes down with sharpened blade and takes the wizards head
And he feels his unknown power drain away
Sword in hand and rein in hand he rides across the plain
Knowing as he gallops that hes going home again
Born and raised in Macke Town, the blacksmiths only son
He brings his friends and neighbors proof of deeds he has not done
But when he rides in triumph back again to Macke Town
Relief at his salvation quickly dies
For though his power has vanished and he brings the murderers head
The village wisdom calls his claims a lie
Sword in hand and rein in hand he rides across the plain
Searching for a power that hell never find again
Born and raised in Macke Town, the blacksmiths only son
His neighbors hound and hunt him for a deed he has not done
His neighbors hound and hunt him for a deed he has not done! Bill Sutton - The Wizard of Macke Town [HQ]](https://i.ytimg.com/vi/zSI3S2tEFeg/mqdefault.jpg)

Lyrics:
Chorus:
Hey, hey, burned away
In the night on fire and the sunless day!
Ha, ha, rule of law!
Biggest lie you ever saw.
Small wars here and big crimes there
Make such a fine excuse
To put your life in the hands of the Man
Who will never turn you loose
Boss and bureaucrat, cop and preacher
We let them have their way—
They got power and all the Earth
We got hell to pay
(Chorus)
Trade your freedom and rights away
For their sworn security
Trash the Earth and spoil the waters
For a sound economy
Just pay your taxes and do your job
Be grateful youre working at all
Dont make waves or the law will get you
Fore this house of cards can fall
(Chorus)
Cops and soldiers, peace and war,
Thats where your money goes
Look how long last the summer droughts
And how black the winter snows
Was it a war or just pollution
That ate a hole in the sky?
Watch our bosses run for cover
And leave us here to die
(Chorus)
Came a night when the sky was red
And a day when the sky was black
And a roar of rage from the tortured millions
As they took their freedom back
Enough of laws, enough of orders
Enough of leaders and war
Just one pledge to a suffering world—
No rulers anymore
