This concerto dedicated to the cellist David Geringas, one of Sumera's last works written in 1998-99, once again reveals his creativity in thematic development and capability in organizing and orchestrating surprising build-ups of sound. The simple motif of an arpeggio, one of the most common and idiomatic techniques available on the cello, is transformed into a colorful and unpredictable musical journey.
