Several months earlier, in the interim of procuring a satisfactory replacement laptop to take the place of my Thinkpad R60 that was very nearly smashed to smithereens, I was afforded the opportunity to "test drive" a Lenovo Thinkpad T400 with Windows 7 Professional pre-installed.
Generally speaking, it was a competent machine with ample power and performance to spare. The only cause of concern was the discovery of smoke unexpectedly emanating from somewhere within the laptop. Perhaps the "mystery" liquid that the monitor's display cable seemed to be saturated with was at fault. The machine continued to work without issue, but one of its three USB ports ceased functioning entirely.
