The LEGO Group and Swedish automaker Koenigsegg Automotive AB have just taken another spectacular step forward in the history of collaborations between the worlds of toys and high-performance automobiles. To celebrate the release of the new LEGO Technic set “Koenigsegg Sadair’s Spear Megacar,” the two companies embarked on a challenge that was as ambitious as it was symbolic: to build a full-scale, fully functional version of the formidable Koenigsegg Sadair’s Spear and then send it to tackle the famous Goodwood Hill Climb. The result is impressive: this LEGO Technic creation reached a top speed of 111 km/h, setting a new official record for a rolling LEGO build. This figure is all the more remarkable because it far exceeds the previous record held by another LEGO creation, which was limited to about 50 km/h. The choice of Goodwood is, of course, no coincidence. Located in Sussex, England, the Goodwood estate hosts the famous Goodwood Festival of Speed every year, which has become one of the must-attend events in the global automotive industry. It was precisely on this legendary hill climb that the real Koenigsegg Sadair’s Spear made its mark in 2025, thanks to test driver Markus Lundh, who set a hill climb record behind the wheel of the Swedish hypercar. For this new attempt, the driver took his place behind the wheel once again, but this time in a very different machine. Despite its body made primarily of LEGO Technic parts, the car faithfully reproduced the aggressive lines and technical specifications of the original model. The feat was even accomplished in the opposite direction of the traditional route, adding an extra dimension to this already extraordinary challenge.
The construction itself is impressive in its scale. The LEGO Technic teams used exactly 327,906 pieces to bring this giant replica to life. The entire structure weighs approximately 1,800 kilograms, including nearly 400 kilograms of LEGO bricks and components. It took more than 9,400 hours of development, engineering, design, and assembly to complete this project. True to the “Build For Real” philosophy that has guided the LEGO Technic line for several years, this creation does more than simply mimic the appearance of the original vehicle. It also incorporates several iconic features of the real Sadair’s Spear, including the famous “Ghost Mode” developed by Koenigsegg, the brand’s signature key, and a lightweight body made entirely of LEGO Technic elements.
