Tome Rodrigo | Lego Technic 8865 - My Alternative - Dakar Rally Car @TomeRodrigo | Uploaded October 2023 | Updated October 2024, 1 hour ago.
My "Dakar rally car" alternative to the Lego Technic 8865 Test car. I am not at all an experienced builder, and I don't have a technical mind, so I am actually very proud of this. It took me maybe two weeks (a certain amount of hours a day. The last day it was like 10 hours in a row) to build this from only parts that were available in the 8865 model. I didn't use any Stud. io to design anything, nor any software or any Lego instructions. It was just real-life trying, building and constant changing and fitting. There is a suspension that I wanted to be as narrow as possible, therefore, I couldn't fit a differential. The steering works from the steering wheel, and there is an unusual looking two-piston engine (that I am glad that it's working), because I had to use many parts (that would be otherwise used for a bigger engine) for other parts of construction. So it has three functions - suspension, steering, and working engine. There is no differential, moving seats, no working shift lever. The car should be built from 748 parts if I counted that correctly. I didn't really see any alternative builds of 8865 out there (except one guy on YouTube), so had to try it myself, and I definitely enjoyed the challenge! As I own two 8865 sets, I've put two cars as a comparison. Any feedback will be appreciated.
