After being sent on a top secret mission to save the Princess, a rebel spy has been captured and put in captivity. A young man named 'Luke Skywalker' and his allies have now been sent to rescue the Princess after the rebel's failure, but he is determined to escape from the Death Star alive, with or without them. As he waits in captivity, he begins to form a plan of escape...
Hey guys, thanks so much for watching! This video was made for LEGO Star Wars Celebration Month, for Solo: A Star Wars Story, in partnership with Brickfilm Day.
Now, I know this is far from my best work, and I would just like to explain that a little. I am currently in the middle of doing half of my GCSEs in school this year, and I had to release this this weekend, so I had a bit of a time constraint. That is why you will notice that there no sound effects for about half of the video. It was pretty much impossible for me to do all the sound effects whilst also studying for tests, so my good friend James Cawood kindly did the first 2 or so minutes for me. He was unable to finish them sadly, but even if I were to continue doing the rest, I wouldn't have been able to finish them for a quite a while.
And animation wise, I tried a LOT of new things with this film. I tried new lighting, which is why there is often light reflecting on the walls. I tried new animation techniques, such as using the roof and vents in some scenes, which are quite hard to animate. And this is probably the most visual effects I've ever done for a film, a lot of which I had never tried before, such as the green screen and blaster shots. So this video may not have turned out to be my best work, but I guess I could call this a test, which has certainly helped me to improve in the future. :)
