At the stroke of midnight "no later than December 6th, 2012" Initiative 502 went into effect. To celebrate this historical moment, and the beginning of the end of prohibition of Marijuana in the states of Washington and Colorado, pot enthusiast gathered under the Seattle Space Needle to toke in the new law. Although it is still illegal to smoke in public, it was a fairly mellow bunch, and there were no police killing the buzz.
This is a historical first for the United States to legalize marijuana for recreational use.
