Preserved with the help of the American Battlefield Trust, the site includes a recreated doghouse for Austin, the family dog who lived at the property when it was a home. Using historic photographs taken across the road during the war, the original location of the doghouse was identified and rebuilt on site.
Darley also explores the battlefield area where intense fighting took place on July 1, 1863, during the opening day of the Battle of Gettysburg, as Union and Confederate forces fought in and through the town.
