GAME ENGINES BEYOND GAMES was a two-day a symposium that brought together artists, curators and scholars to explore the expanded concept of game engines.
Speaker:
Lee Tusman ๐ฝ is a New York-based new media ๐จ๐ป artist and educator interested in the application of the radical ethos of collectives ๐ฉ๐ฟโ๐ญ ๐จ๐ผโ๐ค ๐ง๐ฟโ๐จ ๐ฉ๐ปโ๐ฌ ๐จโ๐จโ๐งโ๐ง and DIY culture ๐งท to the creation of, aesthetics, and open-source distribution methods ๐จ๏ธ of digital culture. He works in code โจ๏ธ, collage โ๏ธ, sound ๐ถ and text ๐. His artistic output includes installations ๐ , interactive media ๐, video art ๐น, experimental games ๐ฎ, sound art ๐, websites ๐, bots ๐ค and micro-power radio stations๐ก. His work has been shown at museums ๐๏ธ, galleries ๐ผ๏ธ, artist-run spaces ๐๏ธ and virtual environments ๐ธ. He studied at Brandeis University and received his MFA at UCLA in Design Media Arts. He is Assistant Professor ๐ซ of New Media and Computer Science at Purchase College.
Lee is an organizer with Babycastles, a NYC-based collective fostering and amplifying diverse voices in videogame culture as well as a collaborator with artist-run community Flux Factory. He co-founded Processing Community Day NYC. He is a past organizer at Hidden City Philadelphia, Little Berlin and KCHUNG Radio.

DADAMACHINIMA explores tactics of emergent gameplay, disrupted modes of interactivity, and brute-force hacks of contemporary (video)game interfaces and environments. In Aram Bartholls project First Person Shooter a now iconic screen-element, adapted from the videogame Counter-Strike, is transferred into physical space. Players can cut and glue parts from a do-it-yourself kit together and receive a pair of glasses bearing the protagonists arm with the weapon. datenform.de/fpseng.html JODI, or jodi.org, are unanimously considered pioneers of new media art.
