In this drone update, we take an overhead look at the ongoing restoration of the historic Lee Plaza in Detroit.

After seeing @FrankaiDetroitVideos ( youtube.com/watch?v=VHBZijnwML0 ) wondering about the activity on the roof, I decided to fly the drone up to get a closer look at the progress for him and the community.

As of March 2026, the $94 million renovation project is moving at a steady pace. You can clearly see the active work on the upper levels and the roof, along with the newly installed windows that now span eleven floors of this 1929 landmark. It’s incredible to see this former luxury apartment hotel being brought back to life as a beacon for the neighborhood.
