In this lecture, we introduce entropy as a property of the system. Starting with a Carnot cycle, we show that dQ/T during a reversible process is an exact differential (dS) of a property named entropy (dS). We then generalize it for a system containing various sub-systems, each having a homogeneous substance. (c) Supreet Singh Bahga, IIT Delhi
