The Telegraph | Lebanon: Israel launches second wave of air strikes on Beirut @telegraph | Uploaded September 2024 | Updated October 2024, 6 days ago.
Beirut is being bombarded for a second time in 24 hours as Israel launches another wave of air strikes on the city.

The Israeli military said it is conducting raids targeting Hezbollah weapons stored beneath residential buildings in the south of the Lebanese capital.

A few hours before, the IDF told people living near a Hezbollah stronghold in the Dahiyeh suburb of the city to leave the area as soon as possible.

Israeli forces are also targeting additional Hezbollah sites, including “a coastal missile array built with Iranian funding,” an IDF spokesman said.

Earlier on Friday Israeli forces pummelled Beirut with a significant air strike that targeted Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah, whose fate is not known.

It comes after a senior Israeli official told The Telegraph that prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu left Israel for New York, in part, to trick Hezbollah’s leader into thinking he was safe from attack.

Mr Netanyahu’s address to the UN “was part of a diversion” intended to make Hezbollah’s leader believe that Israel would not take dramatic actions while Netanyahu was physically in the United States, the official explained.
